Mastering the ability to control one’s own mind is a difficult task that few people can do well.  For instance, you can be on a flight and when the plane goes through the slightest amount of turbulence, immediately your body and mental state may change because you perceive the turbulence as something dangerous that is preventing you from reaching your destination safely.  Even if you are able to say to yourself, “it’s only turbulence,” your mind will immediately place your body in an anxious fight or flight mode.  To be able to purposefully control your panic away and prevent it from occurring requires a much more disciplined way of thinking that may not come naturally to you.  It requires you to learn to physically put yourself at ease in conjunction with training your mind to think of an outcome that does not necessarily lead to your demise.  Through diligent training, you can achieve this mind state. Then you will be, in essence, driving your panic away by conditioning your mind.
